I am happy to report that my fourth granddaughter, Mia Kimberly Brenzel, was born on
September 6, 2023 to proud parents Daniel and Karen Brenzel. The family lives in Torrance in
Southern California, and will be moving to their new home in Rancho Palos Verdes within
weeks. Mia was born while we were visiting in Wisconsin after a weeklong cruise along the
Great Lakes from Toronto to Milwaukee. We had just visited my classmate, Kay Vandenberg, in
Kaukauna when my son reported his wife was in labor, and we received the first photographs of
the newborn Mia when we were having breakfast at the home of my sister, Bridget, and her
husband, Chris Kurth, in New London. After our visit with Kay in Kaukauna on September 5, we
drove by the old Brenzel Family Homestead at 600 Desnoyer Street. While my wife was taking
photographs, the current homeowner, Mary Hague, a KHS classmate of one of my younger
sisters, came out, guessed we were Brenzel family, and kindly asked us if we wanted to see the
inside of the house. What a treat to again see the beautiful woodwork handcrafted by my
grandfather, Ed Balgie, a master carpenter, who worked with my father, Russel Brenzel, to build
the house shortly after I was born.

Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the Rally at Van Abel’s this year.

I am getting older and slower but still enjoying life. Looking forward to seeing all my classmates that are still up and about. Thank God I have a great group of friends that I hang around with and go on adventures often. Hope to see all June 14th and 15th.

Dear Class of 1958,
My granddaughter, Meghan, is getting married October 5, two grandchildren will
be married. We must be getting old!
Enjoyed our reunion last year. I won’t be going this year
I’m still at the same place, Eden Vista Senior Care, 279 E. St. Joseph Drive, Apt. 12,
Green Bay, Wisconsin 54301. They tease me that I should move to Apartment 10,
as Aaron Rodgers, No. 12, is no longer a Packer. Jordan Love, No. 10, is now the
quarterback of the Packers!!! They did pretty good last year. I’m still a Packer fan.
I would love to hear from any of you! All my grandchildren are now college
graduates, except Daniel. He is a junior in the University of Minnesota.
My children are getting older. The youngest, Kristin is 48. Hope this finds all of
you happy and healthy!
Regards, Reetz Van Zeeland Buechel, Class of 1958
