1940’s

Class of 1949 – 75 Years

Dear Class of 1949,
I sure do miss my annual alumni news, as do so many I know.
I am Lois Lettau Derfus, class of 1949, as was my husband Dave, residents of
Neenah area since 1955. Not everyone is computer accessible.
I grew up in Kaukauna, middle child in a family of nine. My four older siblings are
gone. Marion Woldt in 2015, also E. Paul, same year; Dick in 2010 following a car
accident; and Eileen in 2017. My younger siblings: Ken, widowed since 2010, lives
in TX; Dorothy is back in Milwaukee, a widow for many years; Jan, married to Gary
Knoke and living in Berlin. That leaves Jim, married to Sherry DeBroux, a co-
correspondent of this year’s 65-year class. They live in the house we all grew up
in together. Jim has given it many updates while there. I am still in Neenah,
where we moved when Dave began employment for the Post Crescent
Neenah/Menasha office. I also worked there, both in Neenah and Appleton for
over 40 years as typesetter. We have four children: Diane, near Buffalo, NY, still
involved in Sweet Adeline’s, directing, judge, advisor etc.; Nancy, lifetime banker,
retired w/hubby Tom Breaker; Mark who resides with me and David, wife Kathy.
Mark was retired from Lawrence U., and David spent most of his work life in the
paper production field. I have been involved, still, in church choir, but not since
the pandemic. I am looking forward to the June 15 Rally and celebrating my 75 th
year of graduation.
